Obama hijacks GOP language on key issues

Wow!  Wouldn’t it be great if Obama would govern like a Republican?  You know, let the states take care of themselves in their own way.  Let states play with different ways of providing health care as a testing ground for a national system (I’d bet the state willing to go for a truly free-market system would win hands down).  I really doubt there’s anything to this – politicians say a lot of things and actually do very little.  But it did remind me of a book I’ve been wanting to read and will hopefully get around to:

Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy by Peter Schweizer

I heard the author in several interviews when the book came out.  The gist of the books is this – liberals tell us how we should live our lives, but they don’t live theirs that way.  Wait a minute?  Doesn’t everyone do that sometimes?  What about all those preachers who have affairs?  That’s the point.  When conservatives violate their principles it destroys their lives and reputations.  People drop you like a bad habit.  When liberals tell us to do one thing (like invest in public schools by sending our kids) and they do another (like send their kids to private schools) they improve their lives and the lives of their families.  To me that’s proof that their ideas are wrong.  They talk like socialists, but they act like capitalists.  And nobody seems to care.  They are unwilling to live the lifestyle that they want to require for everyone else.  And that makes them hypocrites.
